There are no secrets to this issue. Everyone that has watched it knows exactly what's going on. Business wants CHEAP labor. Some businesses have been cheating the system by using illegals for many years and don't want anything to change that. Some politicians are happy to lie to the people and push for an AMNESTY under the cover of a Guest Worker Plan to keep business/ their contributors happy. The pro-amnesty bunch has tried every stunt, lie and ploy imaginable to try and bolster their unsupportable position. The FACT is that the "ONE TIME" amnesty of 1986 is directly responsible for the current nightmare because the enforcement provisions weren't carried out. So the message has gone out to the world, "The USA is stupid and weak. Just ignore their laws, crash their borders, hide out for a few years, maybe have a child or two that is automatically declared a citizen, bilk the system for all it's worth, then scream and yell that you deserve all the rights of any other American citizen." And any effort at enforcement is met with cries to the heavens, even to the point that some want to say we're Nazis. Mind numbing.
Take a step back for a moment and think. Why, with 12-20 million illegals in this country, are some businesses crying that they can't find enough labor? Gee, you think it might have to do with salaries? Why would an illegal stay in the fields for $9 an hour if he can make $14 an hour in construction? And if this country grants citizenship to those already here, are they going to be content living out their lives as serfs nuevo or will they aspire to better jobs at higher salaries? Hence, there will still be a shortage of CHEAP labor for those that have been exploiting them for decades. So, they'll scream for another GUEST WORKER plan and what will happen with those workers? Same damned thing. They'll leave for better paying jobs. Who or what's going to stop them? And lying slime politicians will start the same old shit, "Oh, but we're REALLY serious this time. There's going to be a new system and we're going to crack down on employers." MY ASS. Why haven't you been cracking down on employers for the past 50 years? But that's going to change? BULLSHIT. Prove it. Give us 5 years of putting employers in jail and deporting illegals by the hundreds of thousands, then talk to us about a new plan.
Some predictions from my crystal ball.
IF the current trends continue, without our spineless traitors/politicians taking any action in the next year, we have a chance. One aspect that has always bothered me is the mindset that we need some overnight fix. Where did that come from? It's taken 20 plus years to get to this point and it's going to be fixed in an instant? Ahhh, no. I have a better idea. Let's get serious about enforcement for a few years. As seen, the most anemic of efforts can have tremendous effects. In areas that have enacted laws and engaged in enforcing them, illegals ARE leaving. Some aren't just moving across state, they're leaving the country. And, IF that continues I expect to see a dramatic reduction in border crossings. Whether or not the governent admits it, who knows. Trying to get an accurate number of crosseros is as inexact a numbering method as any imaginable, but it's all we've got.
Long ago, way before the marches, I said that if this country ever got serious about enforcement you'd be hearing wailing and the gnashing of teeth like never before. And that's happening. Excellent. I want illegals to worry. I want them to worry enough that they'll leave on their own.

I don't hate illegals. Admittedly, I have a degree of contempt for them but my anger is focused on our government and politicians. I have no dispute with anyone based on race, color, creed, sex or national origin. I don't really give a damn about any of that as long as you're here LEGALLY.
